Merry Christmas

December 24th, 2008 § 2

Although this is not the new year, I thought I’d share what I plan on doing next year for my server (my little baby), but first I’d like to say what I’ve done recently.

I’ve concluded setting up a radius server and zenoss for my server, so I can login to my one Cisco switch using the same information I use to login to my server, ad zenoss allows me to monitor devices (although I stopped it for now, since it was chewing up a large chunk of RAM). I’ve setup proper vlans (802.1q), vservers, NAT, iptables, an upside down-ternet. I have setup gnokii and a few web apps, aswell as getting one of my servers setup as a Source server for bigbighuge.com . In the last two days I’ve setup a DNS server which I am testing with internaluse.net although I will be expanding this to michael-wheeler.org.

In the future I want to setup LDAP, and integrate freeradius with LDAP. I want to move my IRC bouncer from nullshells, back home using ZNC. I also want to automate backups for my home computers and setup a VPN so I can get home easier. I also plan on either using my server, or my knowledge to help out an opensource project, previously I have helped out Linux Distros by giving support in their IRC channels, helping out the UnrealIRCd team, by being on QA and testing their code. I have also helped some smaller startups, by coding PHP scripts, and python code, which has really helped them. Currently I don’t have any sort of project to look forward to when I get home from work.

Well that’s a small portion of what I look forward to, so have a Merry Christmas ™ and have a Happy New Year (c)(r).

Injectors

December 20th, 2008 § 1

The only thing that ticks me off more than seeing a 4WD being used just for city driving, is a 4WD being used for city driving, with dirty injectors or the like, puffing out nice thick black smoke, every time it starts / changes gears.

It just ticks me off being behind these cars.

On a side note, I’ve started riding to work for several reasons, first being fitness, the second is saving the environment, and finally it’s saving me fuel money (which has never really hurt me badly as I run a little 4 cylinder hatch, and usually only drive to work – and now with fuel prices under a dollar). It’s mainly to get fit, since some days just involve me sitting on a computer all day.

Have a very merry Christmas (or whatever holiday you celebrate).

Robot Chicken

December 11th, 2008 § 1

I have (legally or illegally) obtained three whole seasons of Robot Chicken, and while I have enjoyed some of the short clips, I have never had the time or the resources to watch full episodes. Well that’s turned around and I have ended up watching both season one and two within two days, and I am part way through the third season.

I love the some what messed up story lines and clips, and there have only been a few I don’t understand (mainly because of the lack of TV I watch). If you ever get a chance to watch Robot Chicken, you should.

I would love to set my wallpaper as Robot Chicken, but it’s a little stuck. I havn’t actually gotten around to fixing it, I should reboot or log off and back on again, but I really can’t be bothered. Due to a kernel panic, my MacBook has a higher uptime (11 days) than my server :<.

Where am I?
