Although this is not the new year, I thought I’d share what I plan on doing next year for my server (my little baby), but first I’d like to say what I’ve done recently.
I’ve concluded setting up a radius server and zenoss for my server, so I can login to my one Cisco switch using the same information I use to login to my server, ad zenoss allows me to monitor devices (although I stopped it for now, since it was chewing up a large chunk of RAM). I’ve setup proper vlans (802.1q), vservers, NAT, iptables, an upside down-ternet. I have setup gnokii and a few web apps, aswell as getting one of my servers setup as a Source server for bigbighuge.com . In the last two days I’ve setup a DNS server which I am testing with internaluse.net although I will be expanding this to michael-wheeler.org.
In the future I want to setup LDAP, and integrate freeradius with LDAP. I want to move my IRC bouncer from nullshells, back home using ZNC. I also want to automate backups for my home computers and setup a VPN so I can get home easier. I also plan on either using my server, or my knowledge to help out an opensource project, previously I have helped out Linux Distros by giving support in their IRC channels, helping out the UnrealIRCd team, by being on QA and testing their code. I have also helped some smaller startups, by coding PHP scripts, and python code, which has really helped them. Currently I don’t have any sort of project to look forward to when I get home from work.
Well that’s a small portion of what I look forward to, so have a Merry Christmas ™ and have a Happy New Year (c)(r).
Merry Christmas!
I tried to make a Python program to say “Merry Christmas” but all it did was hissssss at me
Merry Christmas
